Afghanistan Debate
Lots of interesting stuff on AfPak today:
Exum has called for a debate on Afghanistan in response to the Bacevich essay he’d previously slammed. (BernardFinel.com » Did We Ever Really Have an Afghanistan Debate). My contribution is today’s discussion starter. At 600 words it is unfortunately just a sketch of my views, but I am following up in the comments threat with additional arguments.
Check it out: The Afghanistan Strategy Dialogue: Day Two | Center for a New American Security
Also, brilliant piece in NYT Magazine: Karzai in His Labyrinth – NYTimes.com
Finally, I don’t know what to make about this: Pakistani Claims of Taliban Militant’s Death Are Contested – NYTimes.com
I mean, as a general rule, it would seem like a “good thing” if Pakistani Taliban leaders are shooting each other… but I admit… I am not sure why. I’ll give it some additional thought.
